Chiltern Society Site Conservation

Lacey Green Windmill is the oldest surviving smock mill in England; its important timber machinery is over 350 years old. By the late 1960s the mill had deteriorated and was on the verge of collapse. Restoration started in 1971 and it took more than fifteen years for Chiltern Society volunteers to return it to glory.
