Conservation

Practical conservation is at the heart of what we do

Our ongoing conservation work aims to:

Working in a varied landscape

In addition to the work we do at our own sites and nature reserves, you might also be surprised to know that our volunteers also carry out extensive work in dozens of public areas from commons to copses, and from paths to ponds!

For example…

We have a well established volunteer group that regularly carries out a wide range of conservation tasks in Wendover Woods. We also have a roving conservation group that works around Hertfordshire and another that works on commons in the Chesham and Great Missenden areas.

60,000 volunteer hours every year

Our important work is carried out entirely by dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers across the Chilterns. With 650 square miles to care for we are always looking for more volunteers. So if you’d love to make a difference to your local area, then we would love to hear from you! Why not take a look at our volunteer schedule to see how you could be involved.

Making us proud

Our conservation volunteers have helped us to achieve a great deal over the last fifty years. Read about some of our successes here.
