£7.50 Adult. BOOKINGS ARE NOW CLOSED.
Join us on a tour of the Museum where they will explain the process of the wonderful chair making heritage here in High Wycombe where they made 4,700 chairs a day in 1875!!!!!
You’ll learn how the Bodgers worked in the Chiltern Beech woods making the round chair parts and the Benchmen that made the non-round parts that were used to create the iconic Windsor chairs.
Included in the tour is a brief demonstration on a shave horse, pole lathe and treadle lathe with an explanation of their old hand made tools and work bench. There are beautiful chairs on display and we explain the origin and definition of the ‘Windsor chair’.
There will be an opportunity to browse the up-stair art gallery and their gift shop which features art work in a variety of mediums all by local and acclaimed international artists. There are wild life photographs, a selection of raku fired sculptures, egg craft, hand-made lace items, Batik gift cards and a selection of wood-turned bowls, vases, hollow forms etc in a vast range of woods.
Refreshments on arrival are included in the price.
