Meet at the Red Lion Pub , Church Road, Studham, LU6 2QA - park on roadside or, if room, in the Memorial Car Park opposite. A 5.6 mile walk to Whipsnade and back, visiting two churches and a cathedral along the way. Via Oldhill Wood, Holywell, and part of the Chiltern Way. No major hills just plenty of nice countryside. A 6 mile, three stiles walk, necessarily hilly to catch the wonderful new views over Turville Valley, since the replanting of a swathe of Park Wood. The National Trust Estate at Ashridge is one of the best places in the country to see bluebells in spring although it is difficult to predict when they will be out or at their best. Meet at St Michael and All Angels Hughenden Church free NT car park, just off the A4128 Valley Road (turn off for Hughenden Manor NT property), near High Wycombe, HP14 4LA. This is a 5 mile walk during bluebell season with a total assent of 590 feet, but no stiles. The walk takes us over Cryer’s Hill through The Woodland Trust bluebell woods, via Hughenden Valley and over Hunt’s Hill through another bluebell wood and back to the valley. Meet at Lane End public car park (free parking lower tier), off the High Street / B482, (opposite Church Path), Lane End HP14 3ER A hilly 6 mile walk crossing Wheeler End Common to Cadmore End then descend to Fingest, returning up Hanover Hill and along Long Copse to Laceys Farm. There is one steady uphill section and one stile. The walk is a mix of woodland and open countryside, with some outstanding views and likelihood of bluebells. This partly hilly walk of 5.7 miles begins from the car park in Cowleaze Wood, Christmas Common Road, nearest postcode OX49 5HX (after entering the wood, turn right to park). The route descends Bald Hill and then follows the Ridgeway National Trail along the scarp foot for two miles. There then follows a steep climb up and then down the scarp (a shorter option may be offered which avoids this). The return to Cowleaze skirts Pyrton Hill and Shirburn Wood and ascends more gradually across the springy chalk turf of Shirburn Hill. Great views, spring flowers, no stiles. Explorer 171…

Spring History Walk – Watlington Hill
Join Tim Horton, a former Lecturer and speaker, for a history (and some flora and fauna) walk on Watlington Hill. Tim will discuss many special features for wildlife of this famous 'outrider' to the Chilterns. He will also take up the hill's place in history for observation and the role of ancient tracts that have criss-crossed the area, especially since Saxon times. A special feature will be Watlington Park, nestling among the trees and loved by D.H. Lawrence and Alice Keppel. Come and visit the Chiltern Society Roadshow at the Rickmansworth Canal Festival on 21st May, we would absolutely love to see you. The Rickmansworth Canal Festival occupies part of the Aquadrome, the towpath between Stockers Lock and Batchworth, and the area round Batchworth Lock. Come and visit the Chiltern Society Roadshow at the Queen's Jubilee Fete, Great Missenden on 4th June, we would absolutely love to see you.
