A consultation has now started on a new Oxfordshire 2050 Plan. This is being prepared jointly by all the local authorities in Oxfordshire to guide development in the county over the next 30 years. The plans identify a need for up to 150,000 homes across the county whilst seeking to protect and enhance the natural environment.
The Chiltern Society is proposing to submit a detailed response on the draft plan before the deadline on 8th October 2021. In the meantime, we have identified some initial headline comments to share with members and other interested organisations. A summary of these comments is available here.
We would encourage you to submit your own comments on the Plan to support us in getting a good outcome for the Chilterns. We really need to be pushing for a step change in the county’s approach to addressing nature recovery and climate change, as well as protecting the high quality landscape of the AONB in South Oxfordshire.
