This will be a 1185 metres (0.73 miles) long ‘cut and cover’ tunnel. The south portal will be adjacent to Bacombe Lane and the north portal alongside Folly Bridge over the A413. Bacombe Lane will be closed and realigned via a temporary link road to Ellesborough Road for one year before being reinstated across the green tunnel. Ellesborough Road will be diverted via a temporary link road to the north for two years before being reinstated along its original alignment. Six residential properties in Ellesborough Road and Wendover Cricket Ground and Pavilion have been demolished. The Wendover Memorial Woodland has been partially destroyed. Three PRoWs are closed and two temporarily diverted during construction. All will be realigned over the tunnel.
Beyond the tunnel the route enters the Wendover north cutting and then leaves the Chilterns crossing under Nash Lee Road. The road will be temporarily diverted over the cutting during construction of the underbridge.
