Chiltern Society Wendover Woods Conservation Volunteers

Meet at the Verulamium Museum car park, St Albans, AL3 4SW, follow brown tourist signs on A4147 to Bluehouse Hill. A 4.8 mile walk exploring Roman and Medieval St Albans via parkland, the Ver Valley Trail and some quiet side streets. Will be muddy in places. No stiles. Pub close to end of walk. An easy walk with stunning views, quiet valleys and around 10 stiles followed by a delicious two course pub lunch at the Whip Inn. The walk is approximately 4.75 miles with an ascent of 150 metres. In February some of the paths and tracks will be muddy so appropriate footwear must be worn. Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept under control. Chiltern Society Cobbler’s Pits Wood Conservation Volunteers

The Cobbler's Pits Conservation Group carry out a wide range of woodland conservation tasks. This may include woodland thinning; path creation, maintenance and enhancement; fence maintenance and repairs; tree and vegetation care and maintenance; biodiversity improvements; monitoring and maintenance activities for birds, owls and bats; public access and care management. Learn to identify trees in the Chilterns with woodland expert John Morris. The course will begin with a tutorial at Radnage Village Hall before heading to our nearby ancient woodland site, Bottom Wood, where your new knowledge will be put to the test.
