Chiltern Society Captain’s Wood & Chesham Bois Conservation Volunteers

The Captain’s Wood & Chesham Bois Conservation Group, working in partnership with a number of interested parties is striving to evolve and implement a woodland management plan to enhance this popular beech wood on the outskirts of Chesham to ensure its long term survival as a local nature reserve and well-loved resource. The Whiteleaf and Brush Hill Conservation Group meet regularly to maintain and protect these two wonderful nature reserves and sites of important archaeological features. The group carries out a wide range of work from preserving the iconic Whiteleaf Cross to restoring and maintaining the diverse chalk grassland and woodland areas. Tasks include scrub clearance, fencing repairs, wildlife monitoring, access improvements and woodland thinning. New volunteers are always welcome.

Chiltern Society Kingwood Common Conservation Volunteers

The Kingwood Common Conservation Volunteers meet regularly to maintain and protect this interesting and ecologically important Common. The main task of the group is to restore and maintain the network of open glades that support a wide range of important heathland and acid grassland species. There is a varied work programme including bracken and bramble clearance, woodland thinning, wildlife monitoring and footpath and bridleway improvements. The Wendover Woods Conservation Group, working in partnership with the Forestry Commission, BBOWT, and other conservation groups in the Chilterns, carry out a wide range of woodland conservation tasks from tree planting to woodland thinning and footpath enhancement to invasive species management to help enhance the conservation value and access opportunities on a wide range of sites.   Meeting place: Various - to be confirmed New volunteers welcome.
