Volunteer Group Leader wanted for our annual Heritage and Culture Festival

Are you interested in heritage and culture in and around the Chilterns? Have you ever bought a ticket to one of the many fantastic Chiltern Society Heritage and Culture festival events? Do you have a bit of spare time that you’d like to put to good use? If so, come and help us to arrange a series of unique events throughout the Chilterns for the Society’s annual two-week festival at the end of September.

A small group of volunteers, working with the Society’s Comms and Marketing Coordinator, has been delivering an annual Heritage and Culture festival for the last seven years and we’re now looking for someone to lead the group from 2025, focusing on putting together a festival of some 30 events including conducted visits to stately homes and museums, expert talks and presentations, history walks in town and across country and even musical concerts and bell-ringing. The Chiltern Society’s Summer magazine, which is due to be published at the end of May, gives a taster of the types of events we organise.

The group leader’s role is to chair occasional group meetings and take minutes, work with outside partners to arrange a number of events (not all), liaise with the Society’s executive council and help marshal a small number of events during the festival.

It’s a wonderful opportunity and privilege to be part of an astonishingly successful and established festival which gives pleasure to well over 600 Society members and non-members each year.

If you’re interested, why not give the current leader, Geoff Wiggett, a call for an informal chat for more information. He can be contacted on 01442 875906 or 07826 828217. Or alternatively submit your details using the form below and we will be in touch.
