In South Oxfordshire, there are three Area Secretaries, one of whom is retiring after many years in the role, having achieved an enormous number of improvements to the Rights of Way, together with the establishment of excellent relationships with many local landowners. We are now seeking a new Area Secretary to join us to look after path reps and issues in the following parishes: Checkendon, Eye & Dunsden, Goring, Goring Heath, Ipsden, Kidmore End, Mapledurham, South Stoke, Whitchurch and Woodcote.
In summary the role includes liaising with path reps in each of the parishes to ensure ROW are kept accessible, communicating with landowners, local councils and other interested parties, responding to path diversion requests amongst other activities. The Area Secretaries in South Oxfordshire work closely with the South Oxfordshire Path Maintenance Volunteers who provide ‘on the ground’ support including clearance, gate and waymark post installation workdays.
