The Chiltern Society has submitted a response to the Issues Consultation for the proposed South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Joint Local Plan, which will cover the period until 2041.
We considered that the Plan was strong on environmental issues, including protection of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, biodiversity/nature recovery and climate change. We welcomed this as a clear statement of intent.
However, the Plan fails to make any reference to housing numbers proposed over the period or how that number would be determined. This is a significant omission as many Local Plans are led by the need to deliver a certain quantity of housing. We will be expecting further clarification as the Plan develops.
