Volunteer with us…

We have over five hundred volunteers who help to keep the Chilterns special.

Thinking about getting involved? Here’s why you should…

1) Make a real impact
You will feel that you are doing something great to protect an area that’s special to you.

2) Enjoy the outdoors
It’s an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful Chiltern countryside and even get fit!

3) Meet like-minded people
There’s always lots of laughs and a friendly atmosphere – and often a pub lunch afterwards!

4) Learn something new
It’s a great way to learn new skills and find out more about local wildlife. You don’t need any specials skills to volunteer with us, just plenty of enthusiasm and we will show you the rest! Of course if you do have a secret skill, it could be a great way to put it into action.

How you can help…

Here is just a taster of the volunteering opportunities that we currently have available. For more information on other volunteering roles, please call our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Peter Duxbury, on 07756 070382 or email getinvolved@chilternsociety.org.uk

Planning field officers

PFOs closely monitor and respond to local planning applications as representatives of our Planning Team. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a genuine interest in protecting the stunning Chiltern countryside.

Path maintenance volunteers

Our PMVs improve countryside access for walkers and cyclists by maintaining our extensive network of footpaths & bridleways.

Path representatives

These important volunteers assist us by regularly monitoring and reporting the condition of local paths.

Walks Leaders

Could you organise and lead a walk? We run a regular programme of walks, so if you have a couple of favourite walks that you’d love to share with others, you’d be perfect!

For a full list of our upcoming volunteer days and to see what’s on near you, please see our volunteer schedule.

We also offer corporate volunteer days for businesses and organisations who want to give their staff an opportunity to try something new.
