Hertfordshire Districts Need to Focus on Nature Recovery
The Chiltern Society has submitted comments of the South West Hertfordshire Joint Strategic Plan. This is the first consultation on a new plan covering the districts of Dacorum, Three Rivers and St Albans in the Chiltern Society area, along with Watford and Hertsmere.
Whilst the plan does not contain a lot of detail at this stage, particularly in relation to housing developments, it sets out the Districts’ proposed approach to tackling environmental issues. The Society’s response raised concerns that the Plan is not currently giving sufficient attention to nature recovery, reducing water usage and targeting net zero carbon. Given that the period of the Plan is until 2050, it needs to have more far-reaching ambitions in relation to the environment.
