The Chiltern Society has submitted an objection to Dacorum Borough Council in relation to a planning application to develop 1400 new homes to the East of Tring. See application here
The application would result in the development of 121ha of green field agricultural land in the Green Belt and in the immediate setting of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Our main objection is that the proposed development has not been identified through the preparation of a Local Plan and that the benefits of the development do not clearly outweigh the harm to the openness of the Green Belt, as required by national planning policy. The applicant cannot demonstrate that ‘very special circumstances’ exist to justify development in the Green Belt.
The development would, in our view, cause significant harm to the existing residents of Tring through increased congestion, would negatively impact on biodiversity, would significantly harm the openness of the Green Belt, and would harm the setting of the AONB.
Our full objection can be viewed here.
