Rivers Officer
Location: Based at offices in Chesham and Chinnor
Salary: £27,000 FTE
Contract type: 18.5 hours per week. 0.5 FTE 12 month fixed term contract
Reports to: Chiltern Society’s Chief Officer
Responsible for: Supervision of volunteers, managing contractors and consultants
As part of the Green Recovery Challenge Fund project: ‘Chalk Streams and Wetland Meadows: Guarding the irreplaceable for people and nature’. The Rivers Officer will be responsible for delivering a programme of practical restoration work on chalk streams and wetland habitat in the Chilterns AONB.
The officer will be required to work with a wide range of partner organisations such as water companies, statutory bodies and wildlife groups as well as farmers and landowners. The officer will also work with local community river groups to coordinate and support volunteer conservation work.

As part of the Green Recovery Challenge Fund project: ‘Chalk Streams and Wetland Meadows: Guarding the irreplaceable for people and nature’ the Education & Engagement Officer will be responsible for delivering a chalk stream-focussed education and engagement programme, including community engagement schemes and curriculum-linked education programmes, and enhancing signage and physical access on popular river walks in the Chilterns AONB
The officer will be required to work with a wide range of partner organisations such as local schools, voluntary groups, wildlife organisations, water companies and statutory bodies as well as farmers and landowners.
