The Captain’s Wood & Chesham Bois Conservation Group, working in partnership with a number of interested parties is striving to evolve and implement a woodland management plan to enhance this popular beech wood on the outskirts of Chesham to ensure its long term survival as a local nature reserve and well-loved resource. North Chilterns Conservation Volunteers "North Chilterns Conservation Volunteers are one of the Chiltern Society's 'roving' wildlife conservation groups. We work on a variety of wildlife sites across the North Chilterns supporting our partners in practical habitat management works from grassland and woodland management to invasive species control and access improvements. Training, tools and equipment is provided and all welcome so please get in touch if you would like come along or find out a bit more.

Organised Walk – Dagnall, Hertfordshire

Meet at the Red Lion Pub in Dagnall HP4 1QZ. Park in the rear pub car park if staying for lunch.  A 6 mile walk up to Beacon Hill (Ivinghoe Beacon) via Gallows Hill then  along the Ridgeway to Crawley Wood and at Duncombe Terrace turning  back down to Dagnall. If a clear day there should be some good views. Could be a bit muddy especially on the climb to Beacon Hill. Landranger 165 GR 990164  CS Map 19

Chiltern Society PhotoGroup Indoor Meeting

John Tyler talks on the main changes that have shaped the wildlife and landscape of the Chilterns over millions of years. There will be a £3 charge at the door for this event. We hold indoor meetings from 10.30am to 12.30pm in the Lounge at the Amersham Community Centre in Chiltern Ave, Amersham new town, HP6 5AH. Organised Walk – Cholesbury, Buckinghamshire

Meet on the common at Cholesbury by the Full Moon  HP5 2UH. Parking is available in the pub car park for those having lunch there, otherwise park on the roadside. Cholesbury is at the westerly end of the picturesque Hawridge Common which is near Chesham. The Wendover Woods Conservation Group, working in partnership with the Forestry Commission, BBOWT, and other conservation groups in the Chilterns, carry out a wide range of woodland conservation tasks from tree planting to woodland thinning and footpath enhancement to invasive species management to help enhance the conservation value and access opportunities on a wide range of sites.   Meeting place: Various - to be confirmed New volunteers welcome.
