The Latimer Estate, set deep in the heart of Buckinghamshire, has its first mention as a manor house recorded as early as 1194 AD. The estate was then passed down through families of English nobility, before becoming a top secret centre for military intelligence during World War II, where it gained its name as one of Britain’s most secret homes.
Join us for a talk about the Estate given by the renowned historian, Dr Helen Fry, who has written and edited over 25 books on the fascinating history of World War 2. Her works cover the social history of the Second World War: British Intelligence and the secret war; spies and espionage; and MI9 escape and evasion. This will be followed by a decadent afternoon tea which will be served inside this elegant Mansion House. After you have enjoyed tea, you’ll be taken on a walk around the house & grounds in smaller groups.
