Bottom Wood History Walk and Pub Lunch
£16 – £18
Most of the area covered by Bottom Wood today has been continually wooded for several centuries. In more recent years, the Chiltern Society has managed it as a nature reserve and amenity. It was once a productive part of the local economy when people derived a living directly from the landscape. Its history has left distinctive features throughout the woodland that are still visible today. On this walk we’ll also demonstrate how the Chiltern Society is working to preserve and enrich its character.
The walk will be 3-3.5 miles which is nearly all level walking along farm and woodland tracks with a couple of very short embankments. The event will finish with a delicious lunch at the Dashwood Arms.
Meeting Time – 9.45am for a 10am start. We should return around 1pm for lunch.
Start Point – The Dashwood Arms, Old Oxford Road, Piddington, High Wycombe HP14 3BH
A two course set menu will be forwarded to attendees closer to the time and please dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
