Beer and Watercress Ramble
£15 - £20
We’re pleased to organise this ramble as part of the Chilterns Festival of Food & Drink.
A moderately easy walk of approximately 4.5 miles with an ascent of 130 metres followed by a delicious lunch of local produce at Chenies Manor and a guided tour of the house. Please bring suitable footwear and clothing for the conditions, water, snacks and simple first aid kit.
Meet at Chenies Manor and use the entrance marked “Great House Farm” on the A404 between Chorleywood and Little Chalfont using the post code WD3 6EP. Grid Ref: TQ013983
From Chenies Manor we walk to Chenies Village. The walk then follows the ridge until it drops down to the River Chess and then up to visit the Paradigm Brewery at Sarratt to tie in with the 2017 Chiltern Society Craft Beer Award. The Brewery launched their first ales in summer 2015, and have already won awards for their “Low Hanging Fruit” and “Watford Winter Warmer” beers. The walk returns to the river for the next producer, Crestyl Watercress Farm, now the only working watercress producer on the River Chess. It has been run by run by the Tyler family for three generations. The cress is grown in gravel beds and bathed in the pure waters of the chalk stream to produce highly nutritious and peppery-tasting watercress.
