Ancient Woodland Walk – Hockeridge & Pancake Woods
£5.00 – £8.00
On this 2.5 – 3 mile walk through this stunning ancient woodland, you will be looking at the distribution of old boundary banks and other archaeological features. These woods, which have been owned by the Royal Foresty Society since 1986, have interesting internal wood banks, old field systems, and a dozen old pillow mounds from a medieval rabbit warren. The woods also have an interesting tree trail showing over 50 species of conifer and broadleaved trees. The Chiltern Society holds regular volunteer work parties to help care for these woods.
More info on the woods on can be found here.
This walk is being led by John Morris, Director of the Chilterns Woodlands Project.
