A Walk on the Chalk – Dunstable Downs
SORRY – THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED
Join a Chalk Man and a Water Man for the Walk on the Chalk. Haydon Bailey (the Chalk man) will give an introduction to the geology beneath your feet and try to explain why the Chiltern escarpment is where it is, whilst Allen Beechey (the Water man) will point out why you can’t actually see any chalk streams on this trip. They will also highlight relevant archaeological and historic features along the way, such as the Neolithic/Bronze Age funeral monuments of Dunstable Downs, a Roman Road, and a bit of medieval and industrial archaeology.
The other walk is on 3rd October, Flaunden & the River Chess – see here for bookings.
All events will comply with government guidelines on Covid-19, applicable at the time. If any Covid-19 outbreaks occur, or new restrictions are imposed, the event will be cancelled and a full refund given.
