Meet at the front of Berkhamsted Station, Lower Kings Road, HP4 2AJ Free parking either along New Road (at the back of the castle) or 4 hrs parking nearby at Canal Fields, Broadwater turn off, HP4 1HR.
A 5.4 mile walk heading up Lime Walk and passing where Berkhamsted Place was once located, the Elizabethan house built from the castle stone. Continuing along the ridge to Norcott Hall before descending by the lane to Dudswell lock and returning along the Grand Union Canal towpath back to town.
No stiles and mostly hard all-weather paths. Total ascent 312 ft.
